Biography
William Whitney Godding was a physician considered a leading authority on mental illness. In 1882 he published the book "Two Hard: Sketches from a Physician's Portfolio," which included a psychological profile of President James Garfield's assassin Charles Guiteau.

Abstract
Mock eulogy written for a 19th century Dartmouth College sophomore class tradition of staging a funeral for the end of the prescribed mathematics course. The tradition involved a funeral march, orations as well as burial or burning of mathematics text books.
