Biography
Isaac Taylor was born in 1921, in Morganton, NC. He graduated from the University of North Carolina and received his medical degree, with honors, from Harvard University. He was chief resident in medicine at Massachusetts General and did research in biological chemistry and medical sciences at Harvard. From the late 1940s through the 1950s, Taylor did research in hypothermia as part of “Operation Deep Freeze” in Antarctica. He served as Chief Medical Officer for the United States Navy base at McMurdo Sound from 1955-1957. Later he joined the University of North Carolina, where he was a full professor before serving as dean for 10 years. Taylor died in 1996 in Boston, MA.
