Sears, Dorothy Wingett, Jr., 1923-2015

 

Biography

Dorothy W. Sears Jr. was born on October 30, 1923 in Salem, Massachusetts. She moved with her parents to Lyme, NH, in the early 1950s. Sears worked as a laboratory research technician at Mary Hitchcock Hospital. However, it was her role as the town historian that occupied much of her time. She completely renovated a cottage outbuilding on her property for the purpose of turning it into a museum for local children. She funded the restoration of a historical vital statistic book for the town and served on several committees including the Budget Committee and the Planning Board Committee. Sears was also one of the founding members of the "Lyme Historians." She died on February 24, 2015.
