Biography
Thomas B. Mulroy was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1896. He served as the chief engineer and fuel engineer for Richard E. Byrd’s expeditions to the Antarctic in 1926 and 1928-1930, and was among those men whom Byrd chose to receive the Congressional Gold Medal with him in 1930. Mulroy Island, in Antarctica, discovered in 1960, was named in his honor. He died in 1962.
