Anderson, Roger Arvid

Biography

Roger Arvid Anderson was born in St. Paul and grew up in Little Canada, Minnesota. Due to undiagnosed dyslexia, he was labeled "retarded" and treated as such both at school and at home. Despite this obstacle, he managed to graduate from Alexander Ramsey High School and gain acceptance to the University of Minnesota. After a year at the University of Minnesota, a professor's recommendation helped him transfer to Dartmouth. He graduated in 1968 with a major in International Relations and continued his studies immediately afterward at Cambridge. During his undergraduate career he lived in Cutter Hall as part of the Cutter North Experiment with primarily international students. He was not involved with Greek life, but rather spent most of his time working as a babysitter for faculty and staff to pay his way through college. As an alumnus, he works as an artist and art consultant and is involved with the Dartmouth Gay and Lesbian Alumni Association.
