Agosto, Elizabeth Lee

Biography

Elizabeth Lee Agosto was born in The Bronx, New York. During her childhood, her father's army assignments took the family around the world, including extended stays in Colorado, Texas, Germany, New York, and North Carolina. Her parents divorced when she was seven and she and her mother settled in East Hartford, Connecticut. She graduated from Dartmouth College in 2001 with a major in sociology and a minor in education. During her undergraduate career she balanced her time between working to pay her way through college and working as a social activist on campus. In her senior year she was the president of Casque and Gauntlet Senior Society. She went on to complete a masters degree in sociology at Fordham University. In 2007 she returned to work for the Collis Center for Student Involvement in a nine month, temporary position and was offered a position as Associate Director at the end of the temporary position. She worked with Samantha Ivery to develop the First-Year Student Engagement Program for first-generation college students and through this work caught the attention of newly-appointed Dean of the College Charlotte Johnson. In 2011, she went on to become Special Assistant to the Dean of the College.
