Biography

Deering Greeley Smith was born on June 5, 1896 in Hudson, NH. He attended Dartmouth Medical School from 1916-1918, before moving on to Yale Medical School from which he graduated with an MD in 1920. He began a general practice in Nashua, NH, in 1921, and practiced medicine there for the next forty-four years. He was also a medical advisor for the NH Department of Public Welfare, examining physician of the U.S. Bureau of Pensions, a consultant for the Veterans Administration in Manchester, as well as a contract physician for the NH National Guard. In addition, Smith was prominent in the United States and North American curling circles, having taken up the sport in the 1950s. He died on April 16, 1965.
