Biography
Josiah Webster was born on January 17, 1772, in Chester, New Hampshire. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1798, and was ordained to the ministry at Essex, Massachusetts in 1799. In 1808, Webster became Congregational minister in Hampton, New Hampshire where he founded Hampton Academy two years later. Webster died on March 27, 1837.
