Biography

David Peabody was born on April 16, 1805, in Topsfield, Massachusetts. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1828, after which he studied at Andover Theological Seminary graduating with the class of 1831. Peabody was ordained Pastor of the First Congregational Church at Lynn, Massachusetts in 1832. After several appointments with different churches, Peabody joined the Dartmouth College faculty as a professor of oratory and rhetoric in 1838. He published a memoir of Horace Basset Morse and two sermons. Peabody died on October 17, 1839, in Hanover, New Hampshire.
