Biography

Edmund Batchelder Dearborn was born on November 28, 1806, in Hampton, New Hampshire. He graduated from Hampton Academy, after which he spent many years teaching, including at Marblehead, Pierce Academy in Middleboro, Massachusetts and Chapman Hall School. After he retired from teaching, Dearborn worked for the United States Internal Revenue Service. He also wrote many articles for literary newspapers in Boston and was elected Librarian of the New England Historic Genealogical Society in 1846. Dearborn died on January 22, 1886 in Boston.

Abstract

Edmund B. Dearborn (1807-1887), educator. The collection consists of approximately 100 letters from former schoolmates to Dearborn concerning education as well as student and academic life at a variety of school and colleges, as well as family letters.
