Biography

Edward Paul Sine was born on December 3, 1929, in Buffalo, New York. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1951, and from Columbia University with an MBA in 1953. After graduation Sine joined Arnold Bernhardt & Company as an investment analyst. He held this position until 1967, when he became self-employed. Sine was a collector of Victorian era illustrated books and drawings which he bequeathed to Dartmouth College in honor of Herbert Faulkner West. Sine died on May 28, 1993 at the age of 63.

Scope and Contents The collection contains approximately 2188 drawings, paintings, prints and proofs of original art created from a variety of techniques including aquatint, chalk, crayon, pen and ink, pencil, watercolor as well as engravings, etchings and lithographic prints. Collection also contains publication proofs and sheets from published versions. Illustrations are chiefly for fiction genres for monographs but also include serials, cartoons, comic books, newspapers, children's books, travel books,...
