Biography

Sampson Augustus Reed was born on December 8, 1848, in Suffolk County, Massachusetts. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1874. After graduation he started teaching school and became principal in Glencoe, Minnesota, before studying law. He was admitted to the bar in 1877, after which he opened a private practice. In 1883, he joined Judge Seagrave Smith to form the law firm of Smith & Reed where Reed specialized in land title and real estate law. Reed died on May 31, 1908, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
