Lord, Frederic Pomeroy, 1876-1970
Biography
Frederic Pomeroy Lord was born in 1876. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1898. After a short tour of high school teaching, he returned to the Dartmouth Medical School, where he earned the M.D. degree in 1903. Lord worked in Boston and New York Hospitals, as well as medical school of the State University of Iowa. He also practiced general medicine in Iowa City until 1911, when he returned to the Dartmouth Medical School as professor of anatomy. Lord retired from Dartmouth in 1947. Outside of Dartmouth, Lord was a member of the New Hampshire Medical Society, the American Society of Anatomists, the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Audobon Society. During World War I, he was director of the medical department of the YMCA for the American Expeditionary Force in Paris, France. Lord, the great-grandson of Nathan Lord (Dartmouth College's 6th president) died in 1970.

Frederic Pomeroy Lord (1876-1970), professor of anatomy at Dartmouth Medical School. Dartmouth College Class of 1898. The collection documents his career as a scholar, physician and professor of anatomy. The manuscript for his book "Fundamental Anatomy" as well as material related to his service during WWI are also included.
