Biography

Jeffrey H. Hinman was born on August 23, 1945 in Rome, New York. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1968. At Dartmouth, Hinman was active in Theta Delta Chi, the Dartmouth Rugby Club, Dartmouth Outing Club-Winter Sports and the Dragon Senior Society. In December 1969, Hinman was drafted into the US Army where he served as an infantryman with CoD, 2nd Bn, 2/505th Infantry 3rd Bde 82nd Airborne Division in Vietnam. He also worked as a correspondent and photographer with the 2nd Bn/12th Infantry 25th Infantry Division in ChuChi, Vietnam. Hinman joined the Rome Strip Steel Company, a family business, as a sales executive in 1968.
