Biography

Agnes Donald Gordon was born in Andover, NH in 1853. By the age of 17 she was teaching school in Andover, NH. In 1872 she married M. Lafayette Gordon, a doctor and seminary student at Andover Theological Seminary. That same year, Agnes and her husband left the United States for Japan where they committed their lives to missionary work. Agnes and her husband had four children: Fanny Gordon Bartlett, Donald Gordon, Mary Gordon Reifsnider and Unk Gordon, who died in infancy. In 1898 Agnes Gordon and her husband returned to the United States and worked at the Walker Mission Home in Newton, MA. Agnes Donald Gordon died December 29, 1940 in Pasadena, CA.
