Wheelock, Eleazar Louis Ripley, 1793-1847
Biography
E.L.R Wheelock was born on March 31, 1793 in Hanover, New Hampshire. His family moved to Ohio, and after his parents’ death he served in the US Army during the War of 1812. After the war he moved to Illinois, where he married Mary Prickett. Wheelock worked as a surveyor for the town of Tampico, Mexico before establishing the Town of Wheelock in what is now Robertson, Texas in 1833. He worked as an Indian agent and lawyer and was active in the Texas Rangers and several state militias. He died in 1847.
