Biography
Daniel Everett Colby was born in New London, New Hampshire on December 18, 1815, the son of future New Hampshire Governor Anthony Colby and Mary (Everett) Colby. After graduating from Dartmouth College in the Class of 1836, Colby became a merchant in New London. He served as Adjutant General of the New Hampshire Militia from 1863 to 1864, represented New London in the state legislature in 1857, and was a delegate to the state Constitutional Convention in 1876. He died on May 31, 1891.

She discusses religious activities and the literary society at her school, and mentions the Simpson family of New Hampton as well as mutual acquaintances.
