Hale, John Cushman, 1831-1922

 

Biography

John Cushman Hale was born on March 3, 1831. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1857, after which he began the study of law. He practiced law in Elyria, Ohio before being elected Lorain County Prosecuting Attorney in 1863. Hale participated in the State Constitutional Convention of 1872 and served as Judge of the Lorain County Court of Common Pleas from 1877-1883. Afterwords, he returned to Cleveland to practice law. From 1892 to 1905 he was Judge of the Eighth District Circuit Court of Ohio. Hale died on June 9, 1922.
