Biography
Ephraim Nelson Hidden was born on August 28, 1810 in Tamworth, New Hampshire. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1836 and from the Gilmanton Theological Seminary in 1840. He was Preceptor of Gilmanton Academy from 1838-1840 and pastor of the First Congregational Church of Milford from 1849-1858. Hidden died on November 28, 1880.

Manuscript of an address on cultivating a national literature for the United States. A card accompanying the manuscript identifies it as an address delivered by Ephraim N. Hidden before the United Literary Societies at Dartmouth College, on "A National Literature for America." The two literary societies were the Society of Social Friends and the United Fraternity. 22 pages, with the first two pages missing.
