Biography

Solomon P. Miles was born on January 22, 1791 in Temple, NH. He attended Dartmouth College from 1810-1811 but did not graduate. He received his Ab and Am degree from Harvard University in 1819. Miles was a mathematics teacher who authored the book "Mathematical tables :comprising logarithms of numbers, logarithmic sines, tangents, and secants, natural sines, meridional parts, difference of latitude and departure, astronomical refractions," in 1830. He died on August 22, 1842.
