Biography

Herman Reinhold Pauli was born on February 28, 1682 in Marburg, Germany. He studied theology at the University of Marburg and in Bremen between 1696 and 1702. After graduation, he took on the position of court chaplain for the Princess of Nassau-Schaumburg. In 1705, he became a chaplain in Braunschweig. That same year he traveled to Holland to raise money for his congregation. In 1724 he preached in Frankenthal and in 1728 took on the position of second preacher at the Halle Cathedral. From 1734 until his death on August 5, 1750, Pauli preached and taught theology in Halle.
