Biography

Charles Arthur Tucker was born on March 31, 1855 in West Hartford, Vermont. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1878 after which he taught high school in Manchester and Lansing Iowa from 1879-1880. He became professor in Lenox Collegiate Institute in Hopkington, Iowa in 1880 but moved to Norwalk, Connecticut when he was offered the position of principal at the Centre School. In later years, Tucker served as superintendent of schools in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, Unionville, Connecticut, and Lennox, Massachusetts, as well as principal in Windsor, Connecticut. Tucker died in 1932.
