Abstract

Notebook with signatures of school commissioners, teachers and other notables approving of Virgil Woodcock's (1803-1875) invention of rearranging student desks in school rooms. He claimed that his "Diagonal Arrangement" in favor of single desks rather than double desks, would provide each student with their own desk and thereby preventing "interference with another." Includes two illustrated pamphlets explaining his arrangement.
