Biography
Sherman Lewis Smith was born May 2, 1895 in Massachusetts. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1917. After graduation Smith began his career as an advertising executive with the Bostitch Co. of East Greenwich, Connecticut, the Linscott Motor Co., the H.B. Humphrey Co. and Smith, Sturgis and Moore among other advertising companies in the Boston area. He also taught advertising at Northeastern University evening school. In addition, Smith was active in Dartmouth College's alumni affairs. He died on August 22, 1973.
