Biography

Gotthold Ephraim Lessing was born on January 22, 1729 in Saxony, Germany. He was a German writer, philosopher, dramatist, publicist and art critic, and a representative of the Enlightenment era. His plays and theoretical writings influenced the development of German literature. Publications include "Der junge Gelehrte" (1748), "Fabeln" (1759) and "Minna von Barnhelm" (1767). Lessing died on February 15, 1781.
