Biography

Denis Diderot was born on October 5, 1713. He was a French philosopher, art critic, and writer, best known for serving as co-founder, chief editor, and contributor to the Encyclopédie along with Jean le Rond d'Alembert. Diderot died on July 31, 1784.

Scope and Contents

Four page letter from Denis Diderot of Paris to Francois Marie Arouet de Voltaire writing that he could continue the work on the Encylopedie in another country. If he can hope for an eighth volume better than the seventh, he will continue the Enclopedie. He asks Voltaire not to ask for his letters back.
