Biography
William Plummer was born on June 25, 1759 in Newburyport, Massachusetts. He studied law and was admitted to the bar of New Hampshire in 1787 after which he practiced in Eppping, New Hampshire. Plummer held various local offices and was a member of the New Hampshire Senate between 1785-1800 and served as speaker in 1791 and 1797. From 1802-1807 he served as a member of the US Senate. He became governor of New Hampshire in 1812 and held that position until 1813 and again from 1814 to 1819. After 1820, he retired from public life. Plummer died on December 22, 1850.
