Hathaway, Fernando Cortez, 1844-1873

 

Biography

Fernando Cortez Hathaway was born on August 29, 1844 in Calais, Vermont. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1868 after which he began teaching at Hardwick, Vermont while studying law with his brother. In 1869, he became involved with the People's Academy in Morrisville, Vermont and in the fall of 1872, he was appointed a member of the Vermont State Board of Education. Hathaway died on July 6, 1873.
