Karanikas, Alexander

 

Biography

Alexander Karanikas, Harvard class of 1939, served as a staff sergeant in the Army Air Forces, where he was stationed at Ladd Field, Alaska from 1943-1945. A Greek-American author, Karanikas has written several books including "Tillers of a Myth: The Southern Agrarians as Social and Literary Critics," "Hellenes and Hellions," and "Stepping Stones." He is a professor emeritus at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
