Biography

Edwin T. Arnold was born on April 24, 1947, in Hogansville, Georgia. He graduated with an MA from the Georgia State University in 1973, and with a Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina in 1978. From 1969 to 1973, he worked as an English teacher at Griffin High School in Griffin, Georgia. In 1977, he was hired as an assistant professor of English by the Appalachian State University in Boon, North Carolina. Since 1988, he has been professor of English and assistant dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the university. In addition, he has been an editor and coeditor for a variety of literary works including "The Selected Writings of Benjamin Franklin" (1980), "Conversations with Erskine Caldwell" (1988), "Erskine Caldwell Reconsidered" (1990), and "Perspectives on Cormac McCarthy" (1993). He was also a contributor and associate editor of the "Appalachian Journal" from 1978-1980 and 1968-1988.
