Biography
Judith L. McLaughlin met David T. McLaughlin when they were both still undergraduates. They were married following her graduation from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and during his graduate year at Tuck School of Business. She served as the first lady of Dartmouth from 1980 to 1987. She was familiar with Hanover and Dartmouth from an early age because of visits with her grandmother who spent summers in Hanover. She also had an uncle who was an alumnus of Dartmouth and her father was a graduate of the Clark School.
