Biography

Oren G. Colby was a member of Company D, 12th Regiment New Hampshire V. during the Civil War. After the battle of Gettysburg, Colby's regiment was detached with the 2nd and 5th New Hampshire from the Army of the Potomac to guard the huge number of Confederate prisoners captured during the campaign who were imprisoned at Point Lookout Prison, Maryland.
