Biography

George Cone Beckwith was born on January 3, 1801 in Granville, New York. He was teacher at Phillips Academy, Andover, Mass., 1823-1824, Andover Theological Seminary, 1826, Assistant Instructor in Greek and Hebrew in same, 1826-1827. He was ordained in 1827 and became Pastor at the Congregational church, Lowell, Mass. from 1827-1829. From 1829-1830, he was Professor of Sacred Literatureat Lane Theological Seminary and from 1830-1832, Instructor of Sacred Rhetoric at Andover Theological Seminary.
