Biography
Moses French Hoit was born on May 7, 1813 in Hopkinton, New Hampshire. He graudated from Dartmouth College in 1835, after which he became a lawyer. He died in 1867.

Three-page letter from Moses French Hoit in Nevada County, California to Asa Dodge Smith, telling him that on June 17, he sent Smith a letter enclosing $5 for a master's degree and postage to cover the cost of sending him a triennnial catalogue. He has not heard from Smith and asks whether he received the letter.
