1866 AND BARGE SPEECH CONTESTS 2/26/96; EDITED MASTER TAPE; "Professor Peter Saccio hosts The Class of 1866 Oratorical Contest for Sophomore and Juniors and The Benjamin F. Barge Oratorical Contest for Seniors. Judges for the event include Professors William Cook, Mary Jean Green, George Wolford, Richard Sheldon, and John Walsh. Lloyd Fass '97, Eric Paley '98, and Andrew Schader '98 participate in the 1866 contest covering such topics as racism at Dartmouth, challenge America, and foreign policy in the 21st century. Matthew Bailey '96, Monica Oberkofler '96, Kishan Putta '96, and Sabrina Sorrentino '96 participate in the Barge contest covering such topics as world security and the expansion of NATO, war and the ""ordinary man's"" ability to kill, voting, and role models in today's society.
