From his poor reception among the Indians he thinks they are not as friendly to the Whites as is supposed: Protests against the proposed removal of troops. On the back of the letter is a note, in Maccluer's hand, dated Hampton, FetR 20, 1778, saying that his conjecture of trouble came true in the attack of 1774, put down by Gov. Dunmore. 1772 Oct 24.
