The papers of Herbert D. Foster consist of indexes of periodicals, booklets, reference guides, author cards, bibliographies, catalogue call slips, manuscripts, account books, correspondence, student assignments, prompts, lecture notes, as well as maps. Writings by Foster include “Old Geneva as an International Power: First Puritan State” and “The Successors of the Puritan State in Europe and America.” The papers document his interest in and research of modern European history, John Calvin, Puritanism, and John Locke. Documents related to the estate of Lillian D. Foster are also included.
