The collection includes correspondence, manuscripts, a notebook, index cards with quotations, poetry, notes on religion, booklets, recipes, home remedies, news clippings, ephemera, and reports on cures for tuberculosis. The papers document Parmelee’s lifelong missionary work in Japan, her interest in the work of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union and in the political maneuverings within the Mission. Of note is correspondence from Rikizo Nakajima, a Japanese philosopher and scholar. Also includes letters from Sidney L. Gulick, author, educator, missionary and Dartmouth College class of 1883.
