Description
The Ernest Martin Hopkins presidential records contain correspondence, memoranda, reports, studies and speeches documenting major policy issues and the daily administration of Dartmouth College. During Hopkins’ tenure as the 11th president of Dartmouth College (1916-1945), the College saw a significant expansion of the physical plant, including academic, residential and athletic facilities. Notable among new buildings was the construction of Baker Library in 1928. Also of note during the Hopkins years are changes in the College curriculum, the instituting of a selective admissions process, and the V-12 Naval program during WWII.
