Description
I flew to San Francisco from my hometown, Rome, NY, to stay with Dartmouth classmate, fraternity brother Alexis Chisolm, '68, several days before reporting to Oakland Army Base for my shipment to Vietnam. The "Army Rugby' T-shirt was acquired at West Point following a Dartmouth/Army Rugby Match in which I played. Following the Rugby match, an army major asked me why I was the only member of the Dartmouth team with short hair. "Well, I'm a private in the U.S. Army and I leave for Vietnam next week", I replied.; Location: San Francisco, CA; photo by Alex "Doug" Chisolm, '68
