Description

Nurse BA and medic log were assisting 2/12th, 25th Infantry division doctor Capt. Burke Smith during a MEDCAP. From Caption 44: The occasion was a visit to the town of Trang Bang, as part of the Army's Medical Civic Action Program (MEDCAP) by the 2/12th Battalion doctor, captain Burke Smith, and Vietnamese nurses. Minor first aid assistance was given to the town's population. Things such as toothbrushes, medicine, were given to everyone who needed them. The medicine would usually be given to the Viet Cong and NVA who were living in tunnels throughout the area. Teenage boys and young adult males were rarely seen in the hamlets, villages, and towns. They had either been conscripted by the Viet Cong or the Army of the Republic of VIetnam (ARVN).; Location: Trang Bang, South Vietnam; photo by Jeff Hinman '68
