SP4 Rinaldi, 7/1/1969

 Item, Object: 158, Box: 2
Part of Iconography 1668: Jeff Hinman Vietnam Conflict photographs and slides

Description

Rinaldi was a former infantryman who became a motorboat operator. The boats were used to deliver men and supplies to patrol bases along the rivers. Before sundown, the boats would deliver soldiers to ambush sites along the river and pick them up in the morning. In the months that we operated along the rivers, there was one death by drowning of an infantryman in our company. The army had no requirement that soldiers know how to swim.; Location: SW of Saigon on a tributary of the saigon river; photo by Jeff Hinman '69
