Description

On several occasions, navy river patrol boats would pick us up at the patrol base, ferry ust o different locations along the river banks, and we would disembark, run short patrols, and return to boat. The navy patrol boats were armed with multiple 50 caliber machines and grenade launchers. The boats were powered by turbines and drew very little water for a patrol its size. I asked one of the boat's crewmen if they ever waterskied behind their boat. "Now, we once had a guy who rode a surfboat behind the boat until he got shot up pretty bad."; Location: Patrol base at east bridge on a tributary of the saigon river; photo by Jeff Hinman '68
