Video, 1986 May Be Restricted

The Dartmouth College Athletic Department Records contain scheduling and financial correspondence, annual reports, treasurers’ accounts, budgets, meeting minutes, suject files, sports schedules, team rosters, press guides, facilities plans, and photogrpahs.

The bulk of the Athletic Council correspondence is that of the second and third athletic directors, William Hill McCarter and Robert "Red" Rolfe, and documents the administration and development of the intercollegiate athletics program.

The Althletic Dept. subject files contain correspondence, meeting minutes, rule books, announcements, mailings, flyers, sports information releases, and materials relating to athletic facilities' operations and design, including architectural drawings. The largest portion of these files pertains to collegiate leagues, conferences, and athletic associations, such as the Ivy League, the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Files cover a wide range of subjects such as DCAC members, cheerleading, insurance, Sports Information releases, publicity, undergraduate managers, and referees and officials, and correspondence with College offices, such as Business Manager, Secretary, Treasurer, Dean, Bursar/Comptroller, Admissions, Personnel, and the President's Office. Also included are Joseph Gilman’s Athletic Council files, as an alumni member of the Council, reports of Trustee Planning Committee on Athletics, and soccer scrapbooks.

Also contained are the photographic records, primarily 35mm contact sheets and negatives, from the Office of Sports Information.
