From the Collection:
The collection includes patents related to water wheels granted to John Tyler and his grandfather Benjamin Tyler, as well as a patent related to a back rest for a lathe and a rag washing machine. Of note are the two patents of Benjamin Tyler, one for the improvements to Flax and Hemp Mills and the other for a wry-fly water wheel which were signed by John Adams and Thomas Jefferson and James Madison respectively. Two receipts, a booklet about water wheels and a notebook with calculations and data as well as one clipping are also included.
