14. Malmedy, Belgium. Dec. 21, 1944. A German Panzer tank in Malmedy after Germans were pushed out of the city. It has a fake panel on front and U.S. star marking to deceive U.S. troops. Better of 2 [Chevrolet logo painted on brick structure]
15. "Tiger Royal" Jerry [German] tank. 15r. Captured during the German breakthrough Dec. 1944. This tank is most powerful tank Jerry [the Germans] has, considered almost a secret weapon. Thinnest armor is 3", gun is 88.
16. Belgium Jan 1945. 16r. With two boys I was buried in rubble in the room just to my right. The pile over us was about like that visible beside me. This photo was taken 2 after nothing changed. It was a large 2 story house. Bomb landed 15' directly behind me. Two of the soldiers killed were in room where 2 beams rest. I was standing by window on my right (near top of pile of stones). One boy, my telephone man, was blown 30' out doorway where I stand - is o.k. but still in hospital. Their house was the command post. 17. Malmedy Belgium. Dec. 1945. A resident returns to his home bombed, by mistake, by American B-24s
28. August 1944. In front of Notre Dame a few days after Paris' liberation. I drove by an average of three times a day
29. Buchenwald May 1945. U.S. Trucks loaded with Russian prisoners are leaving the camp. A picture of Stalin is on top of cab. (It was clear these men were not happy to be leaving for Russian zone).
