The collection contains field notes, photographs, typescripts, maps, notes and musk ox knitted wool samples belonging to Burgess Smith who accompanied John J. Teal on a Musk Ox Expedition to Nunivak Island, Alaska in 1964. Other members of the expedition include Chauncy Loomis, John Holden, Charles Bradley and Peter Matthiessen.
