Description
This vertical file contains material relating to coeducation from 1972-1979, including student newsletters, articles from the Alumni magazine with arguments for and against admitting women into Dartmouth, and timelines and emails around co-education.
The file highlights a lot of the controversy around admitting women in the 1970s along with certain women’s experiences at Dartmouth during the time. Of note is a fraternity newsletter using crude language to discuss the pledges' sexual behavior with women, alluding to what would now be considered sexual assault.
