Description
Contains concert programs, tickets, and other ephemera dating from 1886-1901 for minstrel shows by groups including the Dartmouth College Minstrels, Dartmouth College Minstrel Club, Dartmouth College Pera Company. Minstrel shows were a popular form of live entertainment in the 19th century that often included comedic scenes and musical numbers by performers in blackface portraying racist stereotypes of Black people. Documents in this file include racist illustrations of Black people and song titles in a caricatured version of African American Vernacular English.
