Description
Contains clippings and printed material, a list of Indigenous American tribes from the Library of Congress, a typescript essay "Dartmouth in Canada," correspondence, an etching depicting an indigenous dance and photographs of contemporary indigenous students and of the Tantaquidgeon Lodge. Some of the clippings relate to the 1952 "Give Vermont Back to the Indians" campaign, one Dartmouth article from 1938 uses racist language in the depiction of indigenous... people. Others perpetuate the stereotypical romanticized image of the "education" of Indigenous people.
